Ultra-Conservative Former Congressman J.A. Kast Voted In as Chile's New Head of State.
After a definitive runoff election, hardline figure José Antonio Kast has won the presidential office in Chile.
A Clear-Cut Victory
After more than 99% of polling stations reporting, Kast secured 58.17% of the ballots, defeating leftist former minister Jeannette Jara, who received 41.83%.
This marks Kast's third attempt at the presidency, having earlier been lost by the current president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 runoff.
