Trump Calls Loved Ones of Injured National Guard Personnel to White House
Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member killed last week to attend the White House.
He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Tragic Event
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.
White House Offer
The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the state Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president informed reporters. “And likewise with him, recover or not.”
Public Response
Mourners gathered over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to aid law enforcement in the capital.
Honoring Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the media. “She was kind, caring and always eager to assist people.”
Service details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Judicial Steps and Policy Changes
Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy prompted the government to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop granting entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.
Condition of Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the news agency.
He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader Morrisey stated on television.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit the family.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” he told the audience at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
