The network's Leading New Show of 2025 Secures a Major Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

In October of last year, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the network introduced a fresh animated series with a strikingly different feel. Haha, You Clowns was sweet and soothing, in the spirit of a animated take of a contemplative talk show. In an era often defined by bleakness, this show's earnestness struck a chord and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

In mid-December, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for a further two seasons. This offers showrunner Joe Cappa ample opportunity to develop the world of the Campbell family. The series centers on three respectful teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the fans of the show who took a chance on the show and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for a little longer."

Network Praise

The official statement also included praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He shouted out the fans who found the show and advocated for its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you got behind this new show, championed for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a gentle counterpart" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about observing this endearing family go about their daily lives.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his desire to help comedy break out of its long-running sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to various cultural shifts.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

Future Seasons

Now, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well be part of that change he described. At a minimum, the renewal guarantees audiences a little more time to bask in the gentle humor of the endearing Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
