Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
