Fresh Information Come to Light Regarding the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Remains

New information has come to light regarding the shocking passing of renowned director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.

The Alarm

According to a report citing a family associate, a practitioner arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the home. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.

When she went into the house, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had accompanied her contacted 911. Afterward, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Proceedings

The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, along with the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now in custody and denied bail.

Correcting the Record

The anonymous source also disputed several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.

Additionally pushed back against widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement also extends to descriptions of alleged "unstable" conduct by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Details

Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts noted the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
