Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his future following a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the club's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I sense the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his squad in their European defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period like this with performances so bad.”

He stated, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to the top, prove once more the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
