A number of individuals were hurt after a Delta flight originating in Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia was hit by rough air on Friday morning.
Delta Flight 41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, a company official informed. Several cabin crew members sustained injuries.
Local paramedics reported they treated five patients, and transferred three of them to hospital with relatively minor issues that such as pain in the back and migraines. The injured were between their 30s to 70s.
The event represents the latest incident of aircraft being hit by turbulence, with experts pointing out that climate change is a major factor.
The aircraft was carrying 245 passengers and a crew of 15 on the Airbus A350, the Delta spokesperson said, adding that the plane arrived "without further incident" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on the day in question.
Emergency responders indicated they received a call just only 180 seconds ahead of the plane landed, and ambulances were standing by on the runway.
